Post # 10/D-164:
"The issue of Kashmir is born out of exactly the same religion based identity and ideology that Jinnah prached leading to barbaric death of millions in 1947, then again in 1971 and continues today, everyday, in Pakistan. That's in a nutshell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth." - GURUDEV SHOREY

Absolutely - no divergence of opinion !
But then, look at the low-life of those who want to rewrite history that Jinnah was secular. And the moral of those (Hindutwavadis ???) who want to hoist them in Delhi in the coming election !!!
(1) The so-called azadi is just a myth as the common man in the Kashmir valley is a poor victim of games of various separatist groups, each with an agenda of its own. Although all separatist groups appear to be interested in bringing peace to the valley, some groups are more interested in settling scores with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. They will try to fuel violence and even compete with each other to outsmart each other. Thus, for restoration of peace in the valley the government has to deal with competition within different political outfits which are eager to show that they are the ones who would get the so-called 'azadi' for the people of Kashmir. (2)How do we give justice to the family of the convict’s victims? All those, like author of this article, who are making arguments against death penalty must find out the feelings and sentiments of those who’s dear and near ones have been killed by the individual who has been given the death sentence. How many of the victim’s families are ready to forget the incident and forgive the convict? .(3) If death penalty is to be done away with, I believe that a jail term for remaining part of life with hard labour, with no concessions or parole, may be a better alternative. But still the question in some readers’ mind would be “why should the society bear the cost of keeping the murderer alive for so many years? “. This question has no logical answer. (4) I also feel that if death penalty is to become an effective deterrent for preventing similar crimes, the delay in execution of the convict must be avoided. For this to happen, we must review our law of pardon by the President of India.
Readers : This is a very informative piece from Dawn, explaining the religion inspired politics.

Read it and you may be positively surprised.
I need answer to one question. Was Afzal innocent in the eyes of kashmiris ? Can outlook ask the protestors, Yasin Malik, Hurriyat leaders as well. We should have their say on record. All religions have preached this tenet - Do to others what you expect for your self. Do all of us practice this regardless of our religion, group, affiliation etc. We all are suffering from poor governance. Kashmir may be suffering more as pakistan (vested interests) is fermenting trouble to use kashmir to settle old scores. Many of us in rest of India see Afzal as guilty. Maybe he was innocent and we as nation failed him.
"And they say Hindu Owaisis are not as bad as Akbar Owaisi!!"
The comparison is ludicrous. When did Owaisi say anything so forthright and fair minded as having disdain for *all* religions, while treating people individually? Owaisi's rant was an incitement to violence as well as an expression of the absolute clear supremacy of the Islamic religion, and boasting about the martial prowess of Moslems over Hindus, despite the discrepancy in numbers.
The only remote equivalence to an Owaisi would be a Thackeray or a Togadia, but neither of them called for, or hinted at, a nation wide battle between Hindus and Moslems.
And most of all, needless to say, in neighbouring Moslem majority countries, and in the Moslem majority area of Kashmir, no Hindu spokesman( self styled or otherwise) has threatened the majority with the kind of language Owaisi used. That would be the closest equivalence.
